If you find yourself reaching for the next rank, but fail each time, you’re not alone – this is something that many of us League of Legend players face. As hard as we tried, we can’t seem to win a match so we can get those League Points. League if a popular MOBA – you’re looking at over 8 million players each day and with this, you’re going up against many experienced players.

Know Your Champions

You cannot jump on a champion and expect to know what you’re doing right away. In fact, before you even join in on a ranked match, you need to take time to get to know your champions. There’s over 150 champions to choose from right now to choose from, and taking time to learn their abilities can help you counter-pick your opponents’.

If you cannot name all five abilities of the champions’, then you haven’t studied them enough. For example, let’s say you’re jumping in a match where there’s Yasuo on the team – you choose Alistar …if you do this, you’re not familiar with Yasuo, because both of these champions have knock-up abilities and aren’t going to synergize like you want them to.

Choose Your Main

Once you have studied the champions, go ahead and choose your main. If you choose one champion and stick to playing him/her in a certain role, then you’re going to quickly climb the ladder.

Mastering your main LoL champion isn’t something that happens overnight – this will take patience.

Watch Other Players

It’s a good idea to watch your own gameplay so that you can learn from your mistakes. It’s also a good idea to watch professional LoL players and see how they play.

Focus on Improving, Not Just on LP

Many tend to focus on LP, and this is where they go wrong, because they should also be focusing on improving. Long story short, don’t spend all of your time worrying about LP, put some focus towards getting better.

When you jump out of a match, the first things that cross your mind shouldn’t be “the other team didn’t deserve to win” or “how much LP did I lose?” Instead, you should think “What did I do right” and “what mistakes did I make that I could improve on?”

Don’t let your loss of LP or your fellow teammates tilt you – continue to improve and don’t be afraid of missing out on LP to the point that it causes you to sweat while playing LoL.

Don’t Get Tilted

That’s the thing, when you get tilted/frustrated while playing a game, instead of climbing that ladder, you’re going to go in the opposite direction. If you feel yourself getting frustrated, walk away and take a time out.

Wave Management

In LoL, minions play a major role. There are three things you can do when you’re managing your minion wave. 1. You can fast push, 2. You can slow push, or 3. You can freeze the wave.

Fast pushing means you’ll progress the wave by eliminating as many minions as you can.

When you slow push, you will be leaving three minions alive so that your ally minions can slowly gain their numbers.

When you freeze the wave, you’re taking what’s referred to as a tit-for-tat approach, making it so that the wave doesn’t retreat or advance.

The pushing mechanic you use will depend on your situation and whether you’re in the early, mid, or late-game. The slow method is great for setting up roams, while the freezing mechanic will make it easier for you to farm. Hard pushing is a great way to take your opponent out, making for an uneven fight.

Final Words

Climbing the ranked ladder in League of Legends isn’t going to be easy, but if you put some thought into it, and take some time to improve, you will start to quickly climb the ladder.
